Spring Art Classic Show

Altermann Galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico will be featuring their annual Spring Art Classic Show beginning on May 31st. This set-price event will feature thirty works from both living and historic western and wildlife artists. One of the highlights of the group will be a Native American portrait titled "Chief Whitesun" by Henry C. Balink (1882 – 1963), a member of the Taos Society of Artists.

Works from several members of the Cowboy Artists of America will be featured including Harley Brown, Don Crowley, John Coleman, John Moyers and the late Ray Swanson. Prix de West artist David Mann will also be featured with a painting titled "Buffalo Medicine". Andrew Peters, another Prix de West invitee, will participate in this event for the first time.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum will host the 37th annual Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale featuring more than 110 artists. The exhibit will include more than 300 Western paintings and sculpture by the finest contemporary Western artists in the nation. Art seminars, receptions and an awards banquet round out the exhibition’s opening events June 11th - 13th. Reservations are required for most opening weekend activities.

The exhibiting artists bring a diversity of styles to this prestigious art exhibition. Works range from historical pieces that reflect the early days of the West, to more contemporary and impressionist works of art. Landscapes, wildlife and illustrative scenes are always highlighted in the exhibition. The annual exhibition kicks off with two days of seminars on art-related topics and art demonstrations, a sale of all the submitted works and finishes with the Prix de West Perk, a new event on Sunday morning.
