"American Art in Miniature" is a seasonal exhibition and sale at the Gilcrease Museum. The Art Sale and Reception will take place Thursday, November 5th. This event features original paintings and sculptures by 178 American artists. Attendees to the Art Sale will enjoy the opportunity to mix and mingle with the many of the participating artists. Purchases are handled by silent auction with the reserve price being set by the artist. The BUY IT NOW option offers patrons the ability to bypass the bid process and pay a premium price to guarantee their purchase. New this year is a phone bank for those collectors unable to attend but would still like to place a bid.

Congratulations: William Schneider & K. Henderson

William Schneider "Spanish Maid"

"Spanish Maid" by William Schneider won the Platinum Palette Award, one of the top awards, at the National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society's (NOAPS) Best of America 2009 competition. William won Best of Show in this competition in 2007. Bill commented, "I saw the subject, Nina, waiting tables at a banquet in my home town. Her dark beauty and graceful carriage were striking; I felt that I had to paint her! My wife approached her to see if she would be interested in modeling -- this painting is the result."

K. Henderson's painting "Summer Lightening" won the Best of Show award at the "Heart of the West Invitational Art Show and Sale" in Lander, Wyoming. Each year, 40 top western artists from throughout the United States are invited to this show & sale.

"Images of the West in the Digital Age"

Bingham Gallery - Mt. Carmel, UT

Artistic photographer, Barry Glazier will open his show “Images of the West in the Digital Age” at 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 6 in the Bingham Gallery in Mt. Carmel, Utah. The show will run through December 31, 2009. Sponsored by the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts, Barry’s show is part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promote the strong contingent of local artists working in this regional hub of national parks. Recently featured in Cowboys & Indians magazine, Barry has been photographing the southern Utah area for many years. His work can be seen throughout Utah, Arizona and Nevada. The Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts exists to promote the legacy of the famed American painter Maynard Dixon, provide artists retreats on the Dixon property, provide Art Day Camps for people with special needs and provide scholarships for Utah high school students.
